New Rules For 2011

The new rules introduced for 2011 include KERS and the new movable rear wings. Another new feature to the 2011 season is the Pirelli tyres replacing the Bridgestone tyres.

To start with the new movable rear wings. As we saw in the first race they didnt have much of an affect. In my opinion if you in a second of the driver infront, you should be allowed to use it around the whole track, not just on one section of the track as this clearly didnt help overtaking.

With KERS this has improved overtaking in the first race and generally made the race more intresting. However this is a big disadvantage to the lower, new teams such as HRT, Lotus and Virgin who have no experience with the KERs system, let alone the money to spend on researching and perfecting it when there car is still miles of the pace. As we saw the Red Bulls dominated the race even without KERs on their cars, showing how superior they are to the rest of the field, which I believe will be asking the FIA to examine the car to make sure they are not cheating in any way.

Finally the new Pirelli tyres which have really spiced up the new season, involving many more pitstops in the race bringing strategy into play. However as we saw with Perez it is possible to run the entire race on only two sets of tyres, even though their car was disqualified due to the rear wing. Also I believe Button will be far superior to Hamilton as he has such better tyre management than Hamilton along with been able to call at the right time when to swap to the new tyres. We are still yet to see what these tyres preform like in wet conditions, but hopefully in the coming Malaysian GP next weekend we will see what these tyres are like.

Dirty F1 Drivers...Fernando Alonso and Micheal Schumacher

Fernando Alonso, Michael Schumacher, two main dirty drivers who don't drive fairly. For example with Fernando Alonso, always moaning about something. When he was teammates with Lewis Hamilton he waited extra time in the pits with Hamilton queing behind in qualifiying just so Hamilton couldn't get a time in, this is just not right! Another example is again with Hamilton in the US Grand Prix of 2007 (i think) when he moaned that Hamilton was not letting him through into the lead... well its called racing try it sometime maybe?? Another example is in the German GP of 2010 when throughout the race he is moaning at the team stating 'I am much faster than Felipe (Massa)' saying to the team as he cant pass him by himself. Also in the final race of 2010 in Abu Dhabi, after the race had finished with Vitaly Petrov doing a superb job keeping Alonso at bay, possibly costing him the Drivers Championship, he moans at Petrov and starts forcing him off the track(Shown in the picture Below). Well yet again this proves that if Alonso doesnt get his way its everyone elses fault that he cannot pass a Renault driven by a rookie driver. (Congrats to Petrov on coming 3rd in the Australian GP, first ever Russian on the Formual One Podium ;))

With Michael Schumacher, well he may be seven time world champion, but that doesnt mean he's the best driver out there. For example when Barrichello let Schumacher past to take the win for Ferrari when in sight of the flag, both drivers been booed after the race. This is blatent cheating by Schumacher, if your not fast enough to win the race, you shouldnt rely on your team favoring you to win. Again with Barrichello during the 2010 Hungarian GP when he almost forced Barrichello into the pit wall, which could have serious injured Barrichello, as you can see in the picture below. In the first picture you can clearly see that Schumacher is not only looking and acknowlaging Barrichello but turning his car towards Barrichello and towards the pit wall. In the final section of the picture you can see that Barrichello has to force his way back onto the track with Schumacher not helping in any way, later going on to blame Barrichello saying he should have braked and went round the other end, which is rather difficult when you are halfway past the driver! This is just one example of Schumachers skills as alot of the time to pass someone he usually forces them off the track, this is not the way to race.

And that is my rant ;)
